| The Shepherd (Parish Magazine) |
|
As part of the Parish's 50th Anniversary celebrations in 2009, the Parish Magazine The Shepherd was revived. The Shepherd was the name of All Saints' original parish magazine, launched in April 1960. It ws eight pages long, black and white, and sold for four pence a copy. Inside its pages were updates on parish life, diocesan matters, book reviews and opinion pieces. the name was inspired by the local association with pastoralist James ainslie after whom the Ainslie suburb is named. Ainslie was employed by the Campbell Family, the original settlers on the land on which Canberra now stands. Prior to the installation of the Sheffield window, the East window featured a painted glassscene of Jesus the Good Shepherd in recognition of the region's pastoral heritage. Although it's counterpart The Fold has never ceased publication, sadly The Shepherd was laid to rest in July 1961, due to financial constraints. And while in 2009 The Shepherd bears little relation to its namesake in content or style, the 1961 masthead (originally used only four times) has been borrowed, modified and now takes pride of place on the front cover. The Shepherd will be produced twice a year, and copies can viewed by clicking on the links below. Due to the large file sizes, some editions are split into a number of sections.
