What form will the service take?

The wedding ceremony will be an Anglican form of service. The church itself is not ‘for hire'. An Anglican priest who is licensed within the Diocese of Canberra and Goulburn and those from other dioceses who have the Bishop's permission must conduct the ceremony. We welcome clergy of other denominations assisting in the ceremony.

What if you live in another Anglican parish area?

You are welcome to conduct your wedding ceremony at All Saints Church. If you prefer to have your local minister conduct the service we can arrange that for you.

When a person is divorced

If either person has previously been married the Bishop's approval is needed before the marriage can take place. The priest will meet with the couple to prepare a submission outlining any special concerns of the couple, the strengths of the relationship and any special preparation necessary.

Legal Requirements

We have no marriage licence or banns in Australia. A Notice of Intended Marriage form must be completed between eighteen and one month before the wedding. We will contact you to arrange an appointment with the priest who will perform the wedding. At that time each person should also provide a copy of either a full birth certificate (if born in Australia) or a passport.


To prepare for your future life together we expect each couple to attend a Marriage Preparation Course run by St John's Care, Reid. A pamphlet outlining the course will be sent to couples when a booking is made. The courses are currently held on Saturdays at St John's Church in Reid, ACT and are held in the Robertson Room.


The Wedding Service

The priest will meet with you both a few times before your wedding to help you to arrange the service. The master for service booklets will be produced at the church. We have lists of suitable prayers, readings and music, or you are able to choose your own if you prefer.


The priest is happy to discuss photography and videoing of your ceremony. In general photographs are usually taken at the following times. :
• As the bride comes into the Church;
• After the signing of the Register when the bride and groom will pose for photographs;
• At the handing over of the Marriage Certificate;
• As the couple leave the Church;
Photos may be taken at other times as long as the photographer is out of sight. A good spot is the organ gallery at the back of the church.


The organist will help you arrange your music. The organist is included in the wedding fee, and we can also arrange a string quartet for an extra fee.


The church flower arrangers normally arrange flowers. We try to co-ordinate the flowers to complement the colours of all the brides getting married on that day.


Please arrange for two of your friends or relatives to greet guests at the door of the church and to hand out the Order of Service sheets. Ushers are to collect the service sheets at the end of the ceremony and return them to the table at the entrance to the Church.


You are welcome to ask a relative or friend to present the Scripture reading(s) at the ceremony. The priest will give you a list of appropriate readings at your first meeting, or you are free to choose a favourite reading.

The Hall

The Hall may be booked at standard fees for morning tea, afternoon tea or drinks after the weddings. It may be used for small receptions. Please arrange this booking with the church office.


A time for rehearsal will be arranged for you with the priest and verger. It is usually the afternoon or evening before the marriage. All taking part in the bridal party as well as reader(s), ushers and ideally, the photographer (still and video) should attend.

If you decide on All Saints for your wedding please make arrangements with us quickly to avoid disappointment. There is no charge for temporarily choosing a date and time; however, a deposit is required to confirm the booking. Bookings can be made by contacting the Parish Administrator  on 6248 7420 during office hours 

If you have booked your wedding and then decide to make other arrangements, please contact the Parish Office on 6248 7420 as soon as possible. This ensures that the day and time may be made available for someone else.

Stay in Contact

Wedding bookings are often made a year or so in advance of the day. Please remember to keep in contact with the office if you move or change your contact details. We don't want your plans spoilt by not knowing where to find you when it comes time to fill in the necessary paperwork!
